Entre todas las cosas, las imágenes ocupan un lugar esencial en la construcción de nuestros cuerpos y nuestras subjetividades, tal es su estatus equívoco, su cantidad enloquecedora, su tráfico y su poder emocional. ¿Qué hacer entonces frente a las imágenes, verdaderos “objetos de poder” que saturan nuestro espacio y nuestros tiempos? ¿Cómo podemos “endurecernos” para evitar ser internamente capturados e incluso devorados por ellas?

Among all sharing things, images play a capital role in the construction of our bodies and subjectivities by virtue of their equivocal status, their disturbing number, their traffic and their emotional power. What can be done in the face of images, true «power-objects» that saturate our spaces-times? How to «harden» ourselves in order to avoid being internally captured?

We could easily imagine the system that governs us as a bewitched system, i.e., a system of reciprocal possession between beings and things in which images act as producers and sensors of desires. In the so called traditional societies, the healer has no other option to heal the possessed person than to negotiate with the « masters », the spirits inhabiting the sick person’s body.
